Why Microsurgical Method?
The superiority of the microsurgical technique over other methods lies in the ability to examine anatomical structures under 15-20x magnification, which are impossible to distinguish with the naked eye during surgery. Thanks to this magnification:
- Artery is Preserved: The main artery supplying the testis is very thin. In surgeries performed with the naked eye, accidental ligation of this vessel can lead to testicular shrinkage (atrophy). Under a microscope, this vessel is clearly distinguished and preserved.
- Lymph Vessels are Preserved: Ligation of lymph vessels increases the risk of fluid accumulation in the scrotum (hydrocele) after surgery. In microsurgery, lymphatics are preserved, reducing the risk of hydrocele to less than 1%.
- All Fine Veins are Ligated: To bring the recurrence rate close to zero, even the finest veins are visualized and ligated under the microscope.
